Decoupage with Durwin Rice – Distressed Furniture Fix
Posted by Michelle on Nov 16, 2011 in Distressed Furniture | 8 comments
Get ready to take decoupage way beyond its Victorian image. Contemporary decoupage works are made with family photos, magazine clippings, handmade papers, or any other image that strikes the artist’s fancy. Decoupage is a great way to get your cherished memories out of the scrapbook and on display, using them to make over flea-market finds and create one-of-a-kind furniture and accessories for your home. Durwin Rice is America’s foremost practitioner of decoupage. In addition to his decorative pieces, which are sold all over the world, his work includes special commissions for the New York Public Library, the Pierpont Morgan Library, and the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum.

Can I use acrylic paints instead of the latex I wonder? Wow That is absolutely beautiful..I’m impressed.
This was great! My son in law has a distressed table that he was looking to fix. I think I’ll pass this idea to him.
Thanks!
I LOVED this show and totally miss it. Great project!
That was a fun vid. I liked that he did everything in such a relaxed, almost messy way, it makes you think we can all do it (lol).
The sweet lady who presents the show did look like she was wearing her pj though. Bad, bad stylist.
WONDERFUL IDEA
I LOVED this show, and I LOVE Durwin! He is an AWESOME person! I’m from Kansas City and I’ve had the pleasure of being taught the art of decoupage by the best!
