Do you know about antique furniture?
Posted by Michelle on May 27, 2012 in Distressed Furniture | 6 commentsI found a wonderful poker table with all four chairs. Its in great conditions. The lady that gave them to me said that they where from the 1800′s or something. On the bottom of the table it says Heritage.

When I’m in doubt about antique authenticity, I google it.
you want to know what it is worth . well if the entire set is all original and of good quality then i would think it could sell for as much as 500 at an auction . maybe more is there is something extra unique about it so 500 to 1000 for the set.
Heritage may most likely be the name of the creator or the creator’s shop.
i would put a search on ‘Hermitage furniture’ or furniture price guide. Having a maker’s name is important in finding out origins and a price on your item. Also e-bay is a great way to maybe find 1 to compare too.
Game tables were popular then…..no TV.
A an old set in good condition is a great “find”.esp if it is made of solid hardwood.
Bet it has a dark finish.
Look for more markings.
You can search the name “Heritage”… helps if you know the country of origin.
Could be English , but Heritage just sounds American to me.
Best regards
For too many reasons to outline here, antique furniture is usually very difficult to identify and appraise. I have found searching for information about antique furniture on the internet to be a hit or miss affair. Best advice is to take a few good photos of your set. Be sure to take closeups of any markings or unusual details. You might also want to write down measurements. Take all of the information to several of your local antiques dealers and get their advice. They will usually offer a free opinion as to the approximate age and value. If you want an official appraisal that is researched, chances are good that an antique dealer will charge you a fee.
Good luck with your search for information.
