Manga Style Drawing Colored with Chalk Pastels

This is a method that I used for [finally] color my drawings. I usually do not color my drawings because of many reasons, like I don’t like drawing on computers, because my eyes get tired easily [thought I have tried once with a simple drawing, and then gave up], plus I like the traditional way of things; I like using pencil, because the roughness of lines on the paper’s surface somewhat look secksi to me ;P ; and I love black and white, gives me the impression that its manga 8D. However, that does not mean I particularly hate coloring my drawings, I used to, but not anymore. I wanted to give some color and character to my creations, so I sought ways to do it, because I totally suck at other sources such as water color, oil, and whatnot. I used chalk. It worked wonders for me, therefore I wanted to share this idea with people out there =DI know that there is already this technique that people use their fingers to smudge the pastels, but that is not what I want for my drawings, I’m trying to aim the soft and yet rough look from manga style drawings, and since I can’t really afford copic markers.. I just went out to buy the cheapest chalk to color xD The idea was like putting make up on a person, in this case on a character drawing. So, as many know, chalk is like powder, by using a paint brush, soft and fluffy, which I recommend, pack the powder and brush it on the surface you want the color to be on. the paint brushes are a good idea! I have like alot of paint brushes that I haven’t used yet so maybe I’ll color my pics with pastels with paintbrushes from now on XD

I actually had my pastels for years now, but never learned how to use them. I wanted to have a change from using colored pencils, so I tried them on one of my class assignments. I usually use my fingers but this time I used a q-tip! It came out great – but now that I see you used a paint brush I think I’m going to do that instead!

using d paintbrush is a good idea but in my own opinion,,i think using the fingers are better so that you can control the amount of shading ,, and about the drawing,,well it’s good but maybe next time you should choose a best position 4 ur anime character and please avoid too much high shoulders(if the position doesn’t require to),,okay??,,,peace out!!!,,;-),,oh and by the way,,,make the eyes sparkling and adorable,,

Up until now I have been wondering the same, but you know, life may bring many things up on our paths, I have been part of the anime club for my school, and I have been contributing to the club with my art. Such as when we create posters or bulletin board. But this does not necessarily end there, you may even get more creative and eventually, if opportunity permits, you may even end up in a game company and design characters! haha!
