Hi! I’m known as Gaia from the forums and I am in need of your help to transform my dark, drabby room into shabby chic. List: 1. The colours I’m thinking of are: eggshell white and powder blue. 2. I don’t know squat about painting on furniture, let alone, wooden furniture. Like, what the hell is a primer? 3. Why do I need to sand the furniture? 4. How do I make the “shabby-effect” after painting over it? 5. How can I organize my sewing desk? 6. How can I organize all of my shoes? I’ve got more than 26 pairs that no one has no intention of buying. Believe me, I’ve tried. I can’t get rid of all of them because that would totally harm the environment, wouldn’t it? So ’till someone falls in love with my shoes, I have to keep them here. I know I’m asking for a lot. But I know Threadbanger/Threadheads can definitely pull off something like this. Thank you so much!! Gaia
Okay, so my room is starting to look a little …. kid-ish, shall we say .. and so i’ve decided to re-do it to be black and pink. i am painting the walls a soft, light-ish pink and thinking about a getting a black and white polka dot bed-spread. i always found a black and white polka dot mannequin torso that would be really cute to hang accessories on.
annyways, do any of you know any websites – besides pbteen.com i’ve already been on there – that i could look for since i’m redoing my room kind of a shabby chic way.
I moved in a one room studio apt. Bathroom is separate and fair size. Problem is everything else is in one room including my clothes which hangs on a rack similar to those you see at a hotel to put your luggage, etc to take to your room. I have put risers under my bed so I can cram everything not usable under there. Most of the pictures I see to decorate a studio apt are very modern and don’t give you any information on where to store things. I don’t have alot of money and have down sized as much as possible. The ceilings are at a slant on either side of the room making it difficult to use an armoir to store more things out of sight. Although I am looking for one that is shorter than usual. I also cannot divide or use a screen because my bed is in the room and in order to see tv I cannot use a divider. I like the shabby chic or eclectic look and am looking for a chest of some sort to store as well. This type of living is new to me and need help. Does anybody have any ideas or sites to go to? I have looked at some of them but OMG, they are ultra modern and don’t show where the clothes or anyhting is. I know I am not the only one out there with this problem. Thank you for any and all help. I will be doing the storing and do not build or anything so this is not a rebuilding project and as I only rent I am limited to what I can do. Thanks again
I was going to actually wash it, but I’m worried about somehow wrecking it. It’s fairly new, and was quite expensive so my parents would go mental if I ruined it. I just want to get rid of the dust and the hair from my cat and Golden Retriever. If I put it in the dryer on the air setting with fabric softener sheets will it help to dust it off and freshen it up a bit?
So I’m moving into the room next to me. (Big change) and I need some help with some of the changes I am adding.
1) I’m putting fur (fabric) on my wall. One side if fur, the other side is fabric not all fur. How do I put it up without wrecking the paint. I can’t use a staple gun, glue, etc…. I’ve heard of liquid starch….
2) I have a burgandy, light maroon coloured carpet, and well it doesn’t go with anything. I can’t pull up the carpet because the whole house has it. It will clash with the purple coloured fur I have, but I’m deffinately having the fur. Any ideas… a rug or something? If a rug, what colour. Any other ideas would be good too.
3) Im putting up closet curtains. What colour should I get…. I was thinking sheers or string curtains, maybe a combination.
Any themes or colours would be so greatly appreciated. My new room is currently whitey cream and a light maroon colour. I like really ‘shabby chic’ stuff like chandeleirs, door curtains and really bohemic style stuff. So any colour combinations or ideas would be amazing!
